ASI 2025 | Lunch and Learn Session

29 Oct, 2025

Tuesday, 2 December 2025 | 12:15 pm – 13:45 pm | Meeting Room 1

Multiplex imaging is a powerful technology, that enables the visualization of biomarkers in situ, providing deep insights into the spatial organization and interactions among immune cells, stroma, matrix, and malignant cells within the tumor microenvironment (TME). This Lunch and Learn presentation will highlight a practical implementation of an automated image acquisition and image analysis pipeline - incorporating TissueGnostics image analysis solution - in a cancer research setting.

Decoding Metastatic Potential in Colorectal Cancer using Tissue Cytometry

Presenters: Dr Melanie McCoy (1,2) and Ms Tracey Lee-Pullen (1,2)

1 University of Western Australia. School of Surgery.

2 St John of God Subiaco Hospital. Colorectal Research Unit.

Multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF) is a powerful tool for characterising the tumour microenvironment, but its broader application can be constrained by time-intensive manual workflows and the need for spectral scanning systems. To address these limitations, we have developed an integrated staining, imaging, and quantitative analysis protocol, optimised for use with an automated staining system and a non-spectral scanner. We present our streamlined analysis pipeline and demonstrate its utility in investigating the relationship between metastasis development and tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) in colorectal cancer patients.

Why attend?

• Learn the know-how of an optimised mIF workflow including imaging and quantification steps

• Gain insights into the role of tissue-resident memory T cells in colorectal cancer

• Grasp the opportunity to directly exchange ideas with the speakers as well as TissueGnostics expert team

Can’t attend? Meet our team at booths #6 and 8 to discuss your imaging needs. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
